Poems for late trees

Quietus
I watched them cut down
All the trees around my home.
No one yelled timber.
Lights Out
Once, their souls did shine
verdant; Now their grief settles
in a thick, grey fog.

  1. Awww, the trees are gone? They were so awesome to have. I feel sorry for your loss actually.

  2. That's a good point, mom. I think a funeral is in order! You can mourn the further loss of society's connection to nature--chances are those trees aren't considered valuable enough to replant.

  3. Aww so sad. Why'd they do it?

  5. I'm guessing they were diseased or infested. Ongoing problem.
